Track every delivery batch as its own independent consignment

In Growkit, a consignment is the real delivery unit — created when production is ready to dispatch, tracked through delivery and payment independently, and invoiced with its own GST tax invoice.

What is a consignment in Growkit?

A consignment is one batch of goods dispatched against a job card. If you have a job card for 1000 mirrors and you deliver them in three batches — 300 first, then 400, then 300 — each of those is a separate consignment. Each consignment has its own delivery status, its own GST invoice, and its own payment status. They're tracked independently because a batch can be delivered but unpaid, or paid in advance before dispatch.

A consignment in Growkit is not a step inside the job card form. It's created independently — whenever production is actually ready — and linked back to the job card. You don't plan consignments when you create the job card. You create them when the goods are physically ready to leave your warehouse.

Two independent status tracks per consignment

Every consignment in Growkit has two separate status tracks running in parallel. They move independently — a consignment can be dispatched and delivered without any payment being requested yet, or payment can be approved before the goods leave your warehouse.

Delivery status

Delivery ready

Production is complete. Goods are packed and ready to dispatch.

Dispatched

Goods have left your warehouse. LR number or proof document attached.

Buyer has confirmed receipt.

Payment status

Not requested

No payment request raised yet for this consignment.

Requested

GST invoice raised and sent to buyer with payment link.

Approved

Buyer has acknowledged the invoice and approved payment.

Settled

Payment received and confirmed.

Each consignment gets its own GST invoice

When you raise a payment request on a consignment, Growkit generates a GST tax invoice for that consignment's value. This is correct under Indian GST rules — you invoice when supply happens (at dispatch or delivery), not when the entire job is complete. Each invoice has its own sequential invoice number, its own HSN codes and GST split, and its own payment link.

If the buyer paid an advance at the start of the job, the advance is recorded as a receipt voucher and netted automatically against the first (or last) consignment's invoice — reducing the balance due on that invoice.

Attach proof documents per consignment

For each consignment, you can attach the delivery receipt, LR (Lorry Receipt) number, e-way bill reference, or any other document. The buyer sees these documents on their buyer portal — alongside the delivery and payment status for that consignment. This eliminates disputes about whether a batch was actually dispatched or received.

Consignments have their own top-level section

In Growkit, Consignments are not buried inside the job card form — they have their own navigation section. You can see all consignments across all job cards in one list, filter by delivery status or payment status, and see how much is outstanding across your entire production floor in one view.

  • Filter by delivery status (Ready, Dispatched, Delivered)
  • Filter by payment status (Not requested, Requested, Settled)
  • Filter by job card or buyer
  • See total pending payment across all consignments
  • Create a new consignment from any job card

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to create consignments from inside the job card?

No. Consignments are created independently from the Consignments section in Growkit — you select which job card they belong to during creation. You don't need to edit the job card to add a consignment.

Can I raise a payment request before the consignment is delivered?

Yes. The payment status and delivery status are independent. You can request payment as soon as goods are dispatched, or even before dispatch — for example, when you collect an advance payment before production begins.

What if a consignment is partially delivered?

You can split the quantity across multiple consignments. If you were supposed to deliver 300 units but only 200 are ready, create a consignment for 200 and another for the remaining 100 when they're ready.

How does the buyer know about a new consignment?

When you create a consignment and mark it as Dispatched, the buyer is notified automatically via WhatsApp or SMS with a link to their buyer portal where they can see the full consignment details and invoice.
